Replace Bedroom Door
The process of replacing your bedroom door with a new and more modern door is very easy. Ensure that you do not throw away the old door just yet as you can use it as a template for the new door being installed. Replacing an interior door is a great to upgrade the interior of your residence when the existing doors appear to be damaged or badly warped.
1. Interior Door Overview

2. Get Rid of the Current Door
Removal should be preceded by the removal of the pins holding the hinges in place. To ensure that nothing goes wrong, begin with the bottom pins then work your way upwards. You can use a screwdriver or hammer to gently tap a pin that has refused to come out.
3. Properly Mark the Door to be Installed
If you plan on reusing the current lockset, begin by removing the hinges and the knob from the old bedroom door. Lay the door on a flat surface, and using a pencil gently trace around it to mark the areas where the door is to be trimmed.
4. Trim the Door to Size
Use a knife to score the marks you have made using your pencil. Using a circular saw, proceed to trim the door to its correct height.
5. Score the Hinge Mortises
Take the old door and lay it above the new one. Make certain that they are properly aligned. Take a combination square and use it to hinge the mortises of the old door with those of the new one.
6. Chisel and Screw on the Hinges
You will need to use a chisel and a hammer to score the mortises. If you are sure that the mortises are properly aligned, use a screw driver to screw your hinges to your new bedroom door.
7. Assemble Your Doorknob
Use a pencil to mark the locations where the strike plate comes into contact with the edges of your door. Do the same for the lockset, and then use a hole saw to drill for your doorknob.
8. Hang Your New Door
Hold your door in a vertical positon and then interlace your hinge knuckles. Once all hinges become aligned, have someone help you to insert your hinge pins.
